Acquiring a computer over a live network:
In a large organization where it is impossible or impractical to shut off certain systems (e.g., servers), an acquisition over the network is a very practical approach to obtaining necessary data from target systems.
With the live network acquisition, the examination system is placed on the network.
In some cases, small programs are moved out to the target systems and the system can be accessed via the network.
Advantage: it is possible to acquire encrypted data from the target system with ease.
