• Linux:

  • includes basic set of common concepts developed earlier for UNIX;

  • is based on single hierarchical tree structure;

  • has file system represented as one single entity.

• Besides ext2/3, Linux supports many different file systems:

  • Minix, ISO 9660, UMSDOS, NFS, SMB, HPFS.
