7. nibble

• What is a nibble?

  • A nibble is half of a byte, or 4 bits.

  • There are two nibbles per byte and a single nibble may be expressed as a single hex digit.

  • This term is merely a convenience; nibbles are not used to express memory capacity, size, or speed.
