Could you have a problem in making a forensic or bitstream copy of a 40 megabyte hard drive to a 50 gigabyte hard drive? What sort of problems might you encounter?
Ideally, the source and destination drives are in the same capacity range.
Going from 40 MB to 50 GB could cause problems with the BIOS and drive translation. Prior to imaging, the system should be tested to ensure that the computer can actually recognize both drives.
A way around this problem might be to image the smaller drive to an intermediate drive on the examination machine and then restoring the image to the larger drive later.
