A rule of evidence regarding the admissibility of expert witnesses' testimony during United States federal legal proceedings.
Pursuant to this standard, before or during trial a party may raise a Daubert motion to exclude the presentation of unqualified evidence to the jury.
Based on US Supreme Court case Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Daubert Standard outlines the following guidelines for admitting scientific expert testimony:
Determination if scientific expert testimony truly proceeds from "scientific knowledge", rests on the trial judge (Judge is gatekeeper, Rule 702 of the Federal Rules of Evidence.)
